8th Pay Commission: After Delhi Meet, 9 Key Dates Announced for Employees & Pensioners (X)
New Delhi: Activities regarding the 8th Central Pay Commission have intensified and the coming few weeks are considered very important for lakhs of central employees and pensioners across the country. The Commission has now entered its next phase, where suggestions will be taken directly from employees and their organizations through meetings in different cities. On the basis of these discussions, future recommendations related to salary, pension, allowances and service conditions will be prepared.
Several dates in May and June are extremely important in this process. There will be a meeting in Pune on 4th and 5th May, followed by a round of dialogue in Hyderabad on 18th and 19th May. Meetings are scheduled in Srinagar from 1st to 4th in June and the next phase will be completed in Ladakh on 8th June. Apart from these meetings, the date of May 31 is also special because this is the last deadline for submitting the memorandum.
Employee organizations, pensioners' associations, and various stakeholders are called into these meetings. They place their demands directly before the Commission, be it changes in the pay structure, reforms in the pension system or suggestions regarding allowances. After listening to all these things, the commission prepares the basis for further reports.
A large number of employee organizations had participated in the first phase of meetings in Delhi. In the discussions that lasted for three days, issues related to salary increase, improvement in service conditions and pension were raised prominently. Now the second phase is starting, in which feedback will be taken from different parts of the country so that the report can become more comprehensive.
The last date for submission of memorandum has been fixed as 31 May 2026. This is the same document in which employees and their organizations put forth their demands in detail. The Commission has given relief to the employees by extending this time limit so that more and more people can express their views.
Central government employees, pensioners, defense services personnel, officers of All India services, and employees associated with the judiciary and various unions and associations can be involved in this process. Everyone will have to submit their memorandum online in the prescribed format.
This entire consultation phase is being considered as a big opportunity for the employees to convey their voice directly to the Commission. The suggestions given now can become part of the final recommendations in the future. These recommendations will affect the salaries, pensions and facilities of lakhs of employees across the country. In such a situation, people from employee organizations to the individual level are taking this process seriously and are preparing to put forth their demands strongly.
